What exactly does Mother Rock Star Dogs do?

We provide dog boarding in a low-stress, home-style environment with spacious shaded outdoor yards and climate controlled kennel rooms year-round by appointment.  Please see our Dates of Operation.  We do have brief closures from time to time for revitalization.  You may email us regarding these dates.  Advanced reservations are highly recommended in order to accommodate requests due to our limited capacity.

Where is Mother Rock Star Dogs located?

Mother Rock Star Dogs is situated on 1.3 acres in Garfield, Texas, 4 miles east of ABIA and 4 miles north of Hwy 71 between Austin and Bastrop. Detailed directions will be emailed to you upon your confirmed initial visit or reservation. When traveling from Central Austin, please allow 30 - 45 minutes drive time prior to your scheduled appointment.

What kind of dogs visit Mother Rock Star Dogs?

We have a wonderful mix, big and small, purebred and combinations there of, most of whom get along wonderfully with each other.

Are there dog breeds that Mother Rock Star Dogs does not accept?

We do not accept Pitbull Terriers, nor are we accepting any new Pitbull Mixes.  All other breeds are welcome as long as we are able to provide the appropriate care needed. It is important that they are a good match for our facility to ensure the safety and comfort of our other guest dogs, staff and family members.

What kind of dogs are not good candidates for Mother Rock Star Dogs?

1) Dogs who are aggressive towards humans and/or children or are dangerously aggressive towards other dogs. 2) Dogs that can and will jump 4ft fences as our yards are made with 4ft high ranch panels. We are in the process of adding an 8ft high enclosure. 3) Dogs who bark excessively. Excessive barking can be a concern due to the comfort of our other guest dogs and neighbors. If your dog barks, excessively, we ask that you provide a barking device that he or she is used to wearing at home to utilize during their stay with us. 4) Puppies too young to have received their full round of vaccinations or dogs with medical needs we are not equipped to handle.

Does Mother Rock Star Dogs accept unaltered dogs?

Not unless they are puppies under the age of 8 months. It has been our experience that unaltered dogs significantly effect the energy levels within the groups in a way that sometimes is not conducive to successful play.

What is the mission of Mother Rock Star Dogs and what should we expect?

We want to continue to provide year-round boarding in a low-stress, natural environment giving them the best care possible. Our capacity at this time is currently 24 - 30 depending on size during the height of the holiday seasons. Our goal is to allow them as much outdoor time as possible with lots of human contact, access to nature and the ability to play with compatible companions. Our visitors typically play in compatible groups that vary in numbers ranging in size and depending on personality. Indoors, our goal is to provide comfortable individual spaces of their own where they can eat and rest peacefully. We use large crates and cages. Bedding is provided, but clients are welcome to send their own. We feed a Whole Foods 365 brand dog food, which we believe is a wonderful kibble and the dogs really seem to like it, but again clients are welcome to send their own. We try to send each dog home as cleaned up as best we can, but are not equipped to provide baths or grooming, so please save the beauty/barber shop appointments till afterwards.

What makes Mother Rock Star Dogs different from other boarding facilities?

You will know the people who are caring for your dog rather than a staff that comes and goes. We will be able to give you honest feedback about their stay and are able to build strong relationships with each and every one of them. We are a great choice for active young dogs, dogs of all sizes/ages and are also a really great match for much older dogs. Most always when our elderly visitors get out here they are revitalized with all the new surroundings, they really love it!
